Hey y’all, hey! I’m in the kitchen making one of our favorite treats, Christmas crack! It’s a delicious and easy to make recipe that you can gift or enjoy yourself! This time around, I’m making it with suggestions from our friends. Girl, they’ve got me whisking it forever, said I could add vanilla, use pretzels instead of saltines, and who knows what else!
Check out the video below for all the steps. We’ve made this recipe together before and you most likely have all the ingredients!
Christmas Crack Recipe

Did I mention how simple the ingredients for this are? Check your pantry before you head to the store, chances are you may have everything you need.
Ingredients:
- 1 c. Butter, NOT margarine (2 sticks)
- 1 c. light brown sugar
- 40-50 Saltine crackers, just depends how big your baking sheet is.
- 1 1/2 c. of semi sweet chocolate chips
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
- Grab a cookie sheet and line with foil and spray well with cooking spray.
- Melt the butter on the stovetop, once melted add the brown sugar and bring to a light boil, stirring constantly.
- Once your butter mixture comes to a boil, reduce heat and continue to stir for 3-4 minutes until the sugar has dissolved completely and it starts to thicken up. (this part can be tricky, so watch this part closely and keep stirring, as you don’t want to burn your mixture)
- Now that your mixture is done, you can pour it directly over the saltine crackers and use a spatula to evenly spread it out.
- Place your pan in the oven and bake for about 5 minutes, the mixture will bubbles up some.
- Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle on the chocolate chips, they should start melting, if not just place the pan back in the oven and let the chips melt a little, then you will be able to easily spread the chocolate over the whole pan.
- Let your pan cool down a little and then you can place your pan in the refrigerator or freezer to let the chocolate harden up for about an hour.
- Now you can start “cracking” it up into bite sized pieces and ENJOY!
Let’s make it!
I’m making a double recipe today, so you’ll see it’s TWICE as good!
I preheated my oven to 400 degrees (some say 350), then melted the butter. I put foil on my cookie sheet, then sprayed it with cooking spray. Next, I added a layer of saltine crackers.
I added the brown sugar to the melted butter and used a whisk to blend it. You’ll want a thickness of almost caramel, so this takes a few minutes, but stay with it so it doesn’t burn!
(By the way, if you want to see the technique I used on my fireplace, CLICK HERE!)
TIP: You can add toppings such as a crushed up candy cane or pecans!

I spread half of my mixture over a pan of the saltines (remember, I’m making two batches), then put that pan in the oven for about five minutes. (Watch for it to bubble.)
I turned off the oven and added semi-sweet chocolate chips on top. Next, I placed the pan back in the oven, just till the chocolate melted enough to spread.
TIP: Start soaking your pot now so it is easier to clean later.

I spread the melted chocolate over the top, then let the pans cool off before popping them into the freezer. Once everything has hardened, just break it apart / crack it, and enjoy!

Here it is, all cooked, cooled and ready to enjoy!

Let me know in the comments if you have a variation of this treat! I appreciate each and every one of you!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
