Hey girl, hey! I’m enjoying dressing up for Halloween week! I’m dressed as an egg dealer and I’m heading to the corner! (You can see the “money” in my hat and egg apron!)
I made this project last year, and you can the costume I wore HERE!

Check out the video below for all the fun, or follow along here to make your own.
Supplies:
Dollar Tree: 8X10 canvas (or any frame, we’re using only the frame of the canvas).
Lowes or Home Depot: Medium sized craft sticks
Walmart: Waverly Antique Wax
Ms. Beverly Ledbetter: Buttons
Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: White Swan
Amazon: Sanding sponge, Xacto knife Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Stash: Raffia
Let’s make it!
I cut the canvas from the frame, then peeled the edges off. I hammered the staples down, but you can remove yours with pliers if you want.
I lined up the craft sticks to create a back for my project and hot glued them together on the back with more craft sticks. Next, I painted the frame with Waverly Antique Wax and the backing (craft sticks) with two coats of White Swan, drying in between.

I used my Xacto knife to score the paint from the craft sticks to create a shiplap effect, then I sanded the frame just a little.
Some of the craft sticks were showing on one side so I just cut them with scissors and hot glued the back to the frame.

I started out by sketching out the shape with a pencil. Then I used the largest buttons first, and added the smaller ones on top. The leaf-shaped thing is a piece that came with Ms. Beverly’s buttons. I just cut it in half and used it for the stem.

And here’s our finished project today!

I hope you enjoyed our craft and please comment below if you are planning to use your old buttons for something special! I appreciate all of your comments.
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
