Hey y’all, hey! Finn and I are creating birdhouses from the Lizzy and Erin Woodshop. Check out all the fun on the videos below or follow along here on the blog!

Here’s the one where Finn was making his:
And here’s the one where I finished mine:
Supplies:
Amazon: Posca Paint Pens, DAP Rapid Fuse super glue Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Walmart: Giant craft sticks
Stash: Assorted Apple Barrel paints for Finn
Let’s make it!
I used White Swan to paint the outside of my birdhouse. Finn used lots of colors from Apple Barrel paints.
TIP: Go ahead and assemble the one for your kiddo using DAP or another weather friendly glue. Hot glue will not hold up outdoors.

I wanted the shiplap look on mine, so I just drew lines with a black Posca paint pen.

Finn wanted to add a bird to the little perch.

I used DAP glue to assemble the houses.
TIP: Paint the underside of your roof before assembling

Did things get crazy? Why yes, yes they did!

I trimmed large craft sticks to make my roof, then glued them on. I stained them with Dark and Decrepit (watered down a little).

And then I stained the trim for the front while Finn put an April Fools bug in my hair!

I came back the next day to finish mine while Finn went to the playground. I started out by finishing the roof:
I trimmed the ends off of the giant craft sticks (from Walmart) and then glued them on. Next, I stained them with Dark and Decrepit (watered down). I made sure to stain the underside of the roof also.
I painted the bottom with White Swan because it will be seen once it hangs up outside.

I used a small brush to touch up the connecting edges, then dried them with my heat tool.

And I stained the inside edges too.

I wanted some grass at the bottom, so I just used a small brush and made quick, upward strokes to create it.

These are some of the rub on transfers I used from Milton’s Daughter and Iron Orchid Designs.
They are absolutely beautiful, y’all! You just cut out the pieces you want, remove the backing and rub them onto your surface.

Here are all four sides finished!

These adorable birdhouses are in the Lizzy and Erin Woodshop, and just waiting for you to put your own touches on them! You can create as simple or as detailed as you want, and use them inside or out.
TIP: If using outdoors, you’ll need to put a sealer of some sort on them. Just use one that goes along with the paint you choose; water base or otherwise.

Let me know in the comments how you might finish your birdhouse! I appreciate each and every one of you, and thank you for stopping by!
XOXO-Erin
