Hey girl, hey! I received a whole bag of wonderful buttons and some little treasures from our friend Ms. Beverly Ledbetter, and I’m enjoying crafting with them. So today, we are making this super cute button pumpkin that is suitable for hanging or displaying on a shelf! Check out the video below or just follow along here for all the details.

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: 8X10 canvas
Walmart: Giant craft sticks, Waverly Antique Wax
Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: White Swan
Amazon: Sanding sponge (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Let’s make it!
Y’all, I’m in my pumpkin costume that Mama Susie made for one of us years ago! It’s a perfect day to craft a pumpkin while BEING a pumpkin, right?

I’m using the frame only from my Dollar Tree canvas. I just cut off the canvas part, then pulled the edge pieces off. You might want to wear some eye protection because those staples may pop! The stubborn ones can be pulled off with some needle-nose pliers.

Next, I spritzed the wood frame with water, then painted on some Waverly Antique Wax. While still wet, I wiped the wax off with a baby wipe. Be sure to get the inside and outside edges too.

For my surface, I trimmed the giant craft sticks to fit on the back of the frame (not inside). I hot glued some smaller craft sticks to the back for support, then painted the surface with Debi’s Design Diary White Swan. I finished by sanding it just a little with my sanding sponge from Amazon (linked above).

Then I hot glued my surface to the frame.

Ms. Beverly Ledbetter sent buttons and some trinkets to me, and these were in the bag! I cut one in half to use as a stem.

The buttons I’ve chosen to use are browns, wood, naturals and just a few orange.
I placed them first to see how I wanted to arrange them, then began gluing the outer edge, and filling it in.

A little raffia and a “jewel” for the leaf, and here’s the finished project! I love how this turned out!

Do you craft with buttons? Let me know in the comments what you have made. I’d love to hear from you!
Thank you so much for stopping by,

I love your button pumpkin !! I have my grandmother’s button box. Great memories from my youth looking through everything she kept in it besides all of the beautiful buttons!
Love the button pumpkin. Using buttons and pins with the fancy tip on top and a foam tree. Turned out beautiful but boy did it take a long time. Now I might take your pumpkin and change it to a Christmas tree. Just need more buttons.
