Hey y’all, hey! I hope you are ready for a great craft to kick off this August weekend! Fall is just a flip of the calendar, so let’s make a beautiful fall tri-fold project! It’s the last day of our August Lizzy and Erin Woodshop Launch and we host giveaways during each launch. Be sure to watch our Facebook page or YouTube channel to stay in the loop!

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY Paint: White Swan
Let’s make it!
I painted the three main surfaces with White Swan, then used the masking tape technique to paint the small pieces. I used peach, brown, yellow, orange, green and cream to get fall colors onto the leaves and stalks. I gave the “wood” barrel a reddish undercoat followed by Waverly Antique Wax for a brown stain.
For the bucket, I used gray, then a little black and some metallic to make it shiny. I darkened the handle so it would show up better on the bucket.

I used cream and yellow for the part that holds the candle in the lantern and then aged it a bit using my Ranger Ground Espresso ink pad. Next, I began layering the painted pieces onto the surface. This little lantern is so stinkin’ cute, y’all!

I used my paint pens to add some light effects and now we’re ready to paint the frames!

I painted the frames with Waverly Antique Wax and then used my Xacto knife to define the lines in the surfaces. It has an engraved shiplap design so using the Xacto knife brings out those lines.
I sanded the surfaces down just a bit, then glued the frames onto them with Stick Fast glue, using clothespins to hold until the glue dried.

There are little hooks that clip into circular pieces to create a hinge. The hooks should point upwards.
I glued all of the pieces onto their surfaces using Stick Fast glue.
TIP: Use a liquid glue such as Stick Fast instead of hot glue. Hot glue dries lumpy and your pieces won’t lie flat.

And now we have a beautiful fall display!

I hope you enjoyed the Lizzy and Erin Woodshop Launch this week. I sure did! Let me know in the comments what your favorite kit is, and be sure to visit our blog to see the entire launch!
