Hey y’all, hey! Our friend Barb from The Shabby Tree made one of these using a Jennifer Pugh calendar, and I’m inspired to make a patriotic one with treat bags!
Check out the video below or follow along here for all the details!

Supplies:

Dollar Tree: Treat bags (from the party section), foil pans (they come in a 2-pack), moss
Amazon: Posca paint pen, Mod Podge Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)
Walmart: Waverly Antique Wax
Hobby Lobby: Tissue paper (Dollar Tree has it also)
Stash: Scrapbook paper, fabric ribbon
Thrifted: Greenery
Note: The “Let Freedom Ring” sign was too large so I didn’t use it.
Let’s make it!
I used Dollar Tree foil pans to make these surfaces. The dotted one will be the main part while the striped one will be cut up for our flowers. I’ll show you how they are made in the next image!

Here’s how to make them:
Paint pan with Mod Podge, open treat bag and press it down onto the pan.
Use parchment paper over the bag and then press with an iron.
TIP: The metal pan will get hot, so be careful!

I folded the dotted pan in half and then trimmed the edges off. Just hot glue the sides, then use something like your parchment paper to cover the (now hot) metal while you smoosh down the sides.
Next, just open it up a bit. We’re going to fill it!
TIP: The metal will be sharp! Maybe use gloves to handle it while cutting.

I cut circles from the red and white to make flowers.

I crumpled up the brown and also the blue papers to give them texture, crumpled up tissue paper also, then just layered them to create three flowers.
I added buttons to the centers, stacking a couple just for fun!

I filled the basket with paper that I just crumpled and stuffed inside. I also bent the top edges so it wouldn’t be sharp.

I used hot glue over the paper and added moss on top, then greenery.

Next, I made the flowers just by gluing on a craft stick to the back of each one.

I stamped USA on a little piece of muslin with Ranger Ground Espresso ink, and distressed the edge with Waverly Antique Wax. I also went over the letters with my Posca Paint Pen

Just some fabric ribbon for a bow and hanger, and here ya go! How stinkin’ cute is this, y’all! It’s definitely a festive piece, perfect for your patriotic decor!

I hope you enjoyed this craft! I sure enjoyed making it. Let me know in the comments what holiday you would make one for!
Thanks so much for stopping by,
XOXO-Erin
