Lizzy and Erin Woodshop: American Barn

Let’s make it!

Deco Art sent me a bunch of paint to try, and I’m excited to use it on this project. I used it recently in Craftin’ and Laughin’, (our private subscription group) and I really liked the coverage.

I painted the barn white, then used my Xacto knife to gently score along the lines so they will be visible again.

Next, I painted the base of the flag white and added blue for the star part and then red for the stripes. (Two of the stripes are separate pieces and on the masking tape.)

TIP: Put small pieces on tape to paint them!

I used my Distress Oxide Ground Espresso inkpad to darken the edges just to give the flag some definition once it is placed on the barn.

I painted the roof line and barn doors brown.

I sanded down the edges of the pieces just enough to make them rustic.

And I used DAP Rapid Fuse glue to put the pieces together, then used clothespins to hold everything in place until the glue dried. (This is a super glue and it dries fast!)

There’s a kickstand, y’all!

When you go to put the kickstand on, just glue the rectangular piece on to the back. The 1/4 circle will insert in the slot, but should be removable so you can pack it away until next year!

Be sure to leave some space at the edge (see 2nd image here) so that your barn will sit at an angle.

And it’s a wrap! I love this little barn so much!

I hope you enjoyed this craft! Check out our woodshop here and see all of the June 2024 releases while they last!

Let me know in the comments how you might style your barn! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks so much for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
