Aluminum Pan Christmas Tree Craft

Hey y’all, hey! I got today’s idea from one of our friends on our Lizzy and Erin Designs VIP page! Sue Levin Hiltz posted this craft and I just had to try it. It’s a Christmas tree made with a copper colored aluminum pan over a cone shaped piece of cardboard. I love how this turned out and it was fun too! Mine is 16 inches tall, but you can make several sizes and put them together!

Check out the video below or follow along here on the blog for the steps to make your own.

Supplies:

Amazon: Shredder scissors, Stick Fast Glue, rusty stars Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Little Black Dress (Black)

Dollar Tree: Candlestick, aluminum pan

Let’s make it:

For the structure, I made a cone shape out of cardboard and I added craft sticks and a wood round on the bottom. She’s a mess, y’all, but don’t worry! It will all be covered up!

Ms. Sue used a silver pan like the one in the picture, but I can’t find any, so I used the copper colored one. Those scissors are called shredder shears and I got mine from Amazon (they are linked in the supply list above). I cut strips from the pan with regular scissors and then used the shredders to make the fringe. It cuts like butter!

I like the imperfections, and they will blend in with the overall design.

We are gonna back up just a minute so I can show you how to cut that aluminum pan. Cut the corners apart CAREFULLY because that aluminum can cut. Flatten it out just by pressing down on it. Once it is flat, cut the finished edges (the rolled edges) off and cut your strips. Then you’ll cut the strips with the shredder scissors!

TIP: Be careful with that aluminum, girl! It can cut! And be careful with the hot glue (next step) because it heats the pan pieces up! Use silicone finger covers if you have them.

I just hot glued the rows on. I’m digging the copper, y’all! If you use the silver aluminum, you would want to paint it first, unless of course you want a silver tree!

I painted the candlestick with two coats of Little Black Dress from Debi’s Design Diary and Milton’s Daughter using a makeup sponge, then dried it with my heat tool. You could spray paint it if you want!

I used Stick Fast glue (from Amazon, be sure to order the thick kind) to attach the tree to the candlestick. I’ll secure it better once the glue has set.

I added a rusty star and painted it black, then hot glued it on the top.

And we’re done! How cute would it be to make several in different sizes!

Let me know in the comments when you start your holiday crafting! I appreciate each and every one of you.

Thanks for stopping by,

XOXO-Erin
