A “Sweet” Heart for Valentines Day!

Hey girl, hey! Today we are making a beautiful project that is super thrifty! The heart is from Dollar Tree, the wood surface is made from shims and the lace is thrifted. It’s such a pretty little something to enjoy or share as a gift!

Check out the video below, for follow along here on the blog for all the steps!

Supplies:

Milton’s Daughter: Debi’s Design Diary DIY paint: Petticoat Pink

Amazon: Ranger Distress Ink pad in Ground Espresso Click here to check out my crafting essentials (This is an Amazon affiliate link and I may receive a small compensation for items purchased from this link.)

Walmart: Waverly Antique Wax

Home Depot / Lowes: Large wood shims

Dollar Tree: Wood heart (it was in the photo frames section of my store), craft sticks, pearl trim

Goodwill Outlet Bins: Lace, applique from a pillowcase

Let’s make it!

I glued wood shims together for my surface and added craft sticks on the back for extra security. I cut out an applique that was on a thrifted pillowcase. I spritzed the wood with water just to get the wood to take the stain a bit better.

I stained the surface and the Dollar Tree heart with Waverly Antique Wax, then used Petticoat Pink for a light wash on the surface. I want the heart to stand out!

I received a brand new jar of Waverly Antique Wax for Christmas, y’all! After I painted the heart, I hot glued lace onto it and trimmed the edges with scissors. It’s going to be so pretty!

I used my Ranger Distress Oxide ink pad to antique my surface, and hot glued some pearl trim from Dollar Tree to the edges. I also used hot glue to attach the applique onto my heart.

I made a hanger for the heart by hot gluing a wide piece of lace trim. I just folded it over and glued, then hot glued it to the back of the heart and the back of the surface. Next, I hot glued the heart to the surface.

And we have a sweet little sign just in time for Valentines Day!
